What is My Corner Shop?

My Corner Shop lets consumers buy groceries online from their favourite local shops, and have them delivered the same day. Sometimes within 4 hours. All for free.

How do I get my groceries?

When you buy your groceries online with My Corner Shop, you can choose to have them delivered, or you can pick them up yourself.

How is My Corner Shop different from Uber Eats, Menulog, Deliveroo and DoorDash?
  1. My Corner Shop is about groceries, not restaurant and cafe meals. We do deliver a bit of takeaway food (e.g. lunch baguettes from St. Honoré Cafe & Bakery Mosman), but our focus really is on helping customers buy groceries online from their favourite local shops.
  2. With My Corner Shop, you can shop at multiple stores at once, and have everything delivered together.
  3. We don’t charge our shops commission. Uber Eats, Menulog, Deliveroo and DoorDash keep 20-30% of the purchase price for delivery orders.
  4. We’re an Australian company! Uber Eats, Menulog, Deliveroo and DoorDash are all owned by foreign corporations. Learn more about us...

Buying

Who am I buying from?

When you shop with My Corner Shop, you’re buying your groceries from your favourite local grocery stores.

When is my card charged?

When you shop with My Corner Shop, your card isn’t charged until your order is packed and processed at the shop’s end.

What if I want a particular weight of something? E.g. 500g of eye fillet steak.

For weight-based products (e.g. fish fillets, steak, ribs, potatoes, watermelon), you can specify the weight you want before adding the item to your cart.

But it’s just like buying in-store. The shop won’t always be able to give you exactly the weight you want. Usually they’ll give you a little less or a little more.

This is why you’ll sometimes see approximate prices in your cart and at checkout: because we can’t tell you the final price until the shop tells us the actual weight they’ve packed.

But don’t worry. You’ll only be charged for the weight you actually get. When the shop packs your order, they’ll always give you as close to the weight you ordered as possible, just as they do when you buy in-store. Then we calculate the final price based on that weight.

Why do I sometimes see approximate weights and prices?

When adding items to your cart and checking out, you’ll sometimes see things like “approx 600g” and “up to $10”.

That happens because a lot of groceries are weight-based. E.g. Fish fillets, steak, ribs, potatoes, watermelon, etc. are sold by the kilogram. And although you can specify the weight you want before adding the item to your cart, the shop won’t always be able to give you exactly the weight you want. Usually they’ll give you a little less or a little more - just as they would in-store.

And in this situation, we can’t tell you the final price until the shop tells us the actual weight they’ve packed.

But don’t worry. You’ll only be charged for the weight you actually get. When the shop packs your order, they’ll always give you as close to the weight you ordered as possible, just as they do when you buy in-store. Then we calculate the final price based on that weight.

What will I see on my credit card statement?

Your My Corner Shop purchase will look like this on your credit card statement / online banking: MYCORNERSHOP.COM.AU BATEAU BAY AU

It will appear in the ‘Pending Payments’ section for a few days. This means we’ve pre-authorised the amount, but it hasn’t actually been charged yet. This allows us to reduce the amount if the shop gives you less of something than you ordered.

For example, if you bought a weight-based product (e.g. fish fillets, steak, ribs, potatoes, watermelon), the shop won’t always be able to give you exactly the weight you want. Usually they’ll give you a little less or a little more - just as they would in-store.

And in this situation, we can’t know the final price until the shop tells us the actual weight they’ve packed. We have to allow for the possibility that they’ll give you a little more than your asked for, so we pre authorise your card for a little more.

But don’t worry. You’ll only be charged for the weight you actually get. When the shop packs your order, they’ll always give you as close to the weight you ordered as possible, just as they do when you buy in-store. Then we calculate the final price based on that weight.

How much is delivery?

Delivery fees vary depending on how far away you are from the shops you buy from, how many shops you buy from, and whether there are any unavoidable tolls between those shops and your delivery address. If you buy from just two shops and you’re only 2km away from them, delivery will be cheap. If you buy from ten shops and you’re 25km away, or our drivers have to cross Sydney Harbour, delivery will be more expensive.

You can see the cost of delivery at checkout.

Delivery

Where do you deliver?

At the moment, we’re operating only in the Sydney area. We can deliver to pretty much anywhere in Sydney, but if you’re a long way from the shop you’re buying from, delivery will cost quite a bit. So you should pay attention to how far away the shops are.

Which shops are in my area?

Theoretically, if you’re in the Sydney area, then all our shops are in your area. It’s really just a question of how much you want to spend on delivery. The further away you are from the shops, the more it will cost. So you should pay attention to how far away the shops are.

What are your delivery windows?

It really depends on the opening hours of the shops you buy from, and whether you want same-day delivery. You can choose a delivery window at checkout.

When do I have to order to get same-day delivery?

It depends on the opening hours of the shops you order from, but typically you’d have to order first thing in the morning to get same-day delivery. That gives the shops enough time to pick and pack your order, and it gives our delivery drivers enough time to organise delivery. You can see at checkout if same-day delivery is available for your order.

Do I need to be home for delivery?

No. If you're not there when we arrive, we'll follow the delivery instructions you provided at checkout, if possible. Otherwise we'll leave your order unattended.

Click-&-Collect

Where do I pick up my groceries from?

You pick your groceries up from the individual shops you buy them from. You can see their addresses on the shop page in My Corner Shop, and also in the email we send you when your groceries are ready for you to pick up.

When can I pick up my order?

It depends on the opening hours of the shops you order from. You'll see all available collection times for your order when you check out.

Do I have to go into the shop to pick up my order?

It depends on the shop. You can call the shop when you’re on your way or when you arrive, and they may be able to bring your order out to you.

What proof of purchase do I need to pick up my order?

To pick up your order, you’ll need the order number and some legal form of ID. Or just show your order confirmation email.
